Selected questions from Ghanaians in the Diaspora

The following questions were selected from the numerous questions for Nana we received from supporters around the globe

a) From David Effah in New York - Recently, the legal committee of NPP advised the party hierarchy to annul the election of Professor Kojo Amoako as the party's Abuakwa North parliamentary candidate on the grounds of holding dual nationality. Many Ghanaians abroad are very unhappy about this development. We believe that the rush to disqualify potential nominees during the primaries is at best a narrow & restrictive misinterpretation of Article 94 of the constitution. Would Ghanaians abroad be excluded from holding political appointments at home when they are the source of one of the biggest foreign exchange earners for Ghana?

b) From Jim Mensah in Winnipeg, Canada - Many of us living abroad are hesitant to re-settle in Ghana because of challenges & bottlenecks such as land disputes, high custom duties and the uncooperative attitude of officials at the government ministries. How would your administration be different from the previous ones to ensure the successful re-integration of Ghanaians?

c) From Papa Owusu in Virginia, U.S.A. - Ghana is doing quite well in IT outsourcing with some few foreign-owned companies setting up shops in the country. Unfortunately, there is no visible push from the government to make IT outsourcing a major revenue generator for the country. What would your government do to help Ghanaians abroad set up IT out-sourcing shops in Ghana?

d) Grace Amegashie in London, England - ROPAA has been passed yet Ghanaians abroad cannot vote in 2008. When are we going to vote?

e) David Ayittey in Perth, Australia - What would you do specifically to create jobs for the many unemployed in the country?

h) Kwaku Mahoney, Tokyo, Japan - The onslaught of armed robbery in our cities, neighborhoods and even roadways need to be curtailed. How do you plan to protect citizens as they go about their daily lives?

k) Nana Oheneboah, Cape Town, South Africa - How do you plan to harness the expertise and talent of Ghanaians in the Diaspora in a very meaningful & tangible way in your administration?
