Mrs Samira Bawumia, the wife of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, yesterday donated a polytank to her alma mater, the Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School at Saltpond in the Central region.
It was her own experiences as a student at the school between 1994 and 1996, when it suffered from perennial water problems, that prompted her to take this initiative for which the staff and pupils expressed their sincere gratitude.
Mrs Bawumia advised the students to shun mediocrity and study hard regardless of the challenges they face in life as this is the only way to climb to the top to compete with men in driving forward Ghana's development.
"Strive to enter into tertiary institutions and get prepared for any table in future. I did not know that I could become the wife of NPP vice presidential candidate. Without education I would have been found wanting," she advised the students.
Mrs Bawumia urged them to pray for an NPP victory to sustain Ghana's development for the benefit of generations unborn. The Headmistress of the Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School, Mrs Sarah Wilson, implored the girls to heed to the advised offered by Mrs Bawumia so as to attain greater heights in life. She also encouraged them to be studious, determined and committed to their studies in order to achieve excellency at the Senior High School examinations.
Mrs Wilson took the opportunity to thank Mrs Bawumia for her gift as well as for offering inspiration for the girls by taking the time to visit the school, where she also attended a church service with the students and had group photographs pupils and staff.
